Don’t worry in a year or two they’ll have a competing Ai assistant and break any functionality of Gemini and leave everything half baked on the new one
Don’t worry in a year or two they’ll have a competing Ai assistant and break any functionality of Gemini and leave everything half baked on the new one
I’m not sure Google needs to know more about me than they already do.
But then why would they want to give you Gemini if not for your data
I saw a dell bill board the other day saying they put the Ai in ipa and it had a picture of a laptop and a beer
But it was, in fact, terrible, very terrible indeed
Not great, not terrible…
I send the gif of that scene at least once a week at work over teams
what I do is open a containerized tab on firefox so that youtube has no history enabled and doesnt fill the page with obnoxious content then I search for what I went there for then I close the tab so everything is purged. for my subscriptions I use a container on my server that downloads their videos and ads them to my plex server so I can watch them there when I have time to watch stuff its all in one place
I mean I’d hope so because eventually this one I have won’t work like the previous one so I’d like a similar product when that happens not this 99 dollar box thing. I guess I hope someone else will continue making cheap dongles I think walmart has their own thing
I don’t need any of that. I just need a cheap dongle that can run one app
Damm I’ve used these to stream my security cameras to portable monitors around the house. I hope they keep working
I bought crappy zip ties once and I still have them because I don’t want to toss them but they are too crappy to use for anything haha
We also took the liberty of canceling your health insurance to help protect the shareholders from your abhorrent health expenses in the far future
probably depends what youre into, I have my own home lab so I setup nextcloud with collabora for my personal stuff
Try out krita, rawtherapee, darktable, for photoshop stuffs, depending on what you need.
The Adobe stuff always held me back before but I finally just started messing with linux and trying stuff out. I don’t need photoshop for professional use so I was fine spending the time trying to find alternatives for what I needed
the issue I have had with PopOS is multi-monitor support, I cant rotate my rotated second monitor except through the nvidia settings, and my settings get wiped after a reboot, its a known issue for years, other than that I havent had any problems, I have been slowly finding replacement software for everything that I used on windows
I was in the same boat, I have a dual boot main machine now but I haven’t booted I to windows since I installed Pop!OS, I’ve been mostly just seeing what alternatives to everything so far, especially photo stuff, but I seem to be pretty settled now after messing with popos on a little thin client and little second pc I keep at work
What would be the final straw
It’s not that they shouldn’t be correct it’s that people are expected to do the job of multiple people with limited budgets so they contract their work out to services or don’t take the time to double check stuff.
When I worked with the marketing people ot was a team of 3 that had to cover the US mexico and Canada, so they would have people on retainer to make things like art or text for a lot of the stuff, but I can see how they could use a service that used ai for those things
Look at what happened with Wacom, so I just see this kind of cost cutting is appealing to businesses that want to cut costs at the expense of quality
https://community.wacom.com/en-us/ai-art-marketing-response/
Again I’m not saying it’s good but there is demand for this stuff as shitty as it is
The demand may not be by the end user but by businesses that need to fill stuff with filler text. Say you’re working for an automotive company and have to pull off a big email campaign you can use generative ai to help you type up a couple dozen emails, sure they’ll be crappy but you finished your work by the deadline so spending the company money for a service like that seems worth it
Welp the wake up call already pushed me to linux, finally
Just tear down this wall
