Definitely, but maintaining their status as a tax haven is more important I guess

So where is the line drawn? What about the teens who want to lookup how to do an exercise correctly without getting injured? The people who make these videos are usually very fit (big surprise!)
I have a feeling this is going to be driven by some AI model that’s gonna do more harm than good
I asked the same question, my friends all abandoned it for Instagram years ago, but I (an American) am seeing a lot of Europeans using it during my travels
We’re talking about an American company here, businessmen fail upwards
if I want to stay employed
I think this is a little paranoid. Somebody has to handle the production models - deploying them to servers, maintaining the servers, developing the APIs and front ends that provide access to the models… I don’t think software dev jobs are going anywhere
8 Bit Guy, is that you?
The updated language is what they’ve been saying since a couple years after Windows 10 came out. This story just went back to not being news lol
Yeah, clearly the author doesn’t know about Stalin
How is it sad? If they’re young and/or don’t have the best schooling, it’s not their fault they haven’t heard of it. And then they encounter an absurd picture and approach it with skepticism? That’s not sad at all. Healthy skepticism is good, especially with the influx of AI generated content
Why not instead use the money to pay for a domain name and use a router with a dynamic DNS daemon?
Wasn’t able to find an answer to my main question in the article: will this kill uBlock Origin’s ability to block YouTube ads?
Whatever you say man lmao clearly you didn’t read the book and are just making generalizations
If I remember correctly, he said it was definitely not a modern tape drive, which is why an older man was maintaining it
I’m gonna call bullshit based on the story by Snowden in his biography about his Boomer co-worker who was in charge of maintaining a tape drive that recorded all incoming communications from field agents as a backup
Considering how much Google has entrenched itself into the Internet (see manifest v3 fiasco), I would argue that creating a new browser is a fork of the web
Wow you just shined a ton of light on a problem my company had. We wanted to implement a medical imaging system from one of their subsidiaries, and it took an average of 3 months for the salesperson to respond to EACH of our emails
The government has already stepped in several times. If you’re in the mood to get mad, read up on the results of these interventions. Basically, Boeing was almost forced to deal with actual oversight, but was able to convince the government at the last minute that they could handle the oversight themselves internally (thanks to the wonderful process of lobbying of course)
Ok but before you go, just want to make sure you know that this statement of yours is incorrect:
In the strictest technical terms AI, ML and Deep Learning are district, and they have specific applications
Actually, they are not the distinct, mutually exclusive fields you claim they are. ML is a subset of AI, and Deep Learning is a subset of ML. AI is a very broad term for programs that emulate human perception and learning. As you can see in the last intro paragraph of the AI wikipedia page (whoa, another source! aren’t these cool?), some examples of AI tools are listed:
including search and mathematical optimization, formal logic, artificial neural networks, and methods based on statistics, operations research, and economics
Some of these - mathematical optimization, formal logic, statistics, and artificial neural networks - comprise the field known as machine learning. If you’ll remember from my earlier citation about artificial neural networks, “deep learning” is when artificial neural networks have more than one hidden layer. Thus, DL is a subset of ML is a subset of AI (wow, sources are even cooler when there’s multiple of them that you can logically chain together! knowledge is fun).
Anyways, good day :)
Hopefully this will be what finally convinces YouTube to get rid of Shorts. I doubt there is a single creator that solely uploads to Shorts, they’re just reposts of Reels and TikToks
