The valuation is based on the expectation of the company to make massive profits. And if you think investor money is not profit for the people running Open AI, you’re crazy. We could only hope that they run out of money and go out of business. But that’ll never happen now with the amount of faith these corporations are putting in “AI” research.
It’s in the first bloody paragraph. 😮💨
OpenAI is begging the British Parliament to allow it to use copyrighted works because it’s supposedly “impossible” for the company to train its artificial intelligence models — and continue growing its multi-billion-dollar business — without them.
And if you follow the link the title of the article says it all:
#OpenAI is set to see its valuation at $80 billion—making it the third most valuable startup in the world
I don’t know about Apple but Google used to make a little tone that let you know that it was listening to you. It doesn’t do that anymore. Now it just shows a little green light which, if you’re not looking directly at the phone you won’t see.
And it was pretty frequent when Google’s voice Assistant would randomly activate and I’d hear that little tone and I would have to turn it off so it wouldn’t sit there listening to my conversation. But now you don’t have that option, now if you miss that little light everything you say is recorded.
Fuck these services. I have permanently disabled both my phones 's Google Assistant and the Nest speaker I bought. Yes, it’s less convenient. But the fact of the matter is that these companies aren’t interested in making a service that is useful to you they just want to collect data on everything you do so they can sell it. And to be clear, I was fine with them collecting data on stuff that I actively participated in, it’s the price I was willing to pay. But for them to pull this shady ass shit of removing the audible notification is just garbage.
Interestingly Israel has violated all three of these on hundreds of occasions in Gaza.
Yeah that’s what we call corporate welfare. What exactly did that 5 billion buy anybody? All it did was make that fucking asshole richer.
Yeah I wonder how many billions of dollars in incentives did Texas Republicans promise that douchebag in order to get him to move to their State. And how many Texans are going to have to foot that bill.
Damn, $600k times 35 people is only $21mil. That’s pocked change for this jerk. And yet, I’ll bet he fights paying just the $600k to the one person tooth and nail like the spoiled rich fuck that he is.

Yeah that’s why it would be very nice if they would stop integrating it into fucking search engines.
I guess it’s a good thing I’m on Firefox now instead of Chrome.
Consumer confidence is way down. They’re going to have a hell of a time trying to sell 15th gen to people. Everyone I know who knows what in the hell is going on is going to AMD.
I’ve been in the industry since back when AMD actually was making the processors for Intel. And people have been saying this exact thing every time there’s a fluctuation in the processor market. Yet Intel still basically owns the market anyway.
The failure in Intel isn’t their processors, it’s their management.
While Intel has absolutely been losing money on its chipmaking Foundry business as it invests in new factories and extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography, to the tune of $7 billion in operating losses in 2023 and another $2.8 billion this quarter, the company’s products themselves aren’t unprofitable.
So what I’m getting here is that the CEO and or the board decided to invest in something that is losing a ton of money and so now 15% or more of the people who have been working diligently to actually make the company money are going to pay for it by losing their job.
Honestly AI is the 3D glasses of consumer products and computing. There are a couple of places and applications where it absolutely improves things, everywhere else it’s just an overhyped extra that they tack on in hopes that it will drive up interest.
Except that no reason for the ban was given. If the ban was due to a sudden uptick in followers, why wasn’t that reason sent along with the ban? And then there is the timing which coincided with the fundraiser. All of this on top of Musk publicly declaring his endorsement of Trump and the promise of finding his campaign. Too many “coincidences” are a clear indication of intent.
Not to mention that one of the first things he did upon taking ownership of Twitter was to game the entire thing so his own tweets get the most attention on the site.
Honestly, I think that White Dudes for Harris should sue the platform for an illegal contribution to the Trump campaign. It is by definition a media platform and by denying the account they’ve clearly crossed a line.
What’s hilarious about this article is that I’m actually getting YouTube premium for free as some kind of bonus to my phone service yet I’m still using ad blockers on it and everything else. I really don’t give a shit. If they want to get better at injecting ads I’m going to place my bets on ad blockers getting better at blocking them. Or just not using YouTube. Cause, quite frankly, most of my favorite creators are on Nebula anyway and I pay for that service.
All of these issues have reportedly led to an increase in ad block uninstalls, leaving users with the choice of YouTube Premium or sitting still until that “skip ad” button appears.
Oh yes, I totally believe that people are opting to delete their ad blocker, that works on not just YouTube but the entire internet, simply because YouTube has become obstinate and difficult. Who the fuck wrote this article? And how much are they getting paid by Google? Do they really think we’re going to buy into this bullshit and follow suit?
I’ve got another 5 or 6 years with my FX-8150.
