Its a huge difference. I for one like waking up after I go to sleep, if I didn’t wake up then the real “me” ceases to exist.
Similar to a transporter, you can never be truly sure its the original “you” waking up on the other side.

Not knowing how to add 6 + 8 just because a calculator is always available isn’t okay.
I have friends in my DnD session who have to count the numbers together on their fingers. I feel bad for the person. Don’t blame a teacher for wanting you to be a smarter more efficient and productive person, for banning a calculator.
Why? Just stay on Signal. For the time being it is one of the leaders in private communication.
Though, if you truly need secure private conversations, you would want to move around a lot anyway.
How so? My phone screen is 6.4in and id hardly consider that to be tablet sized. Anything smaller physically hurts me to be honest.
So this thing looks absolutely amazing, but still sports a 19oz size(560g). For reference, my phone is only 7oz (201g). The steam deck (roughly 22oz), which i regularly hold with two hands, can start to cause pain in the wrists.
I’m sure the kind of person to buy this phone isn’t holding it for numerous hours, but thats still A) a lot of weight to lug around B) I’d imagine it will begin to strain the wrists quickly. Maybe that’s a pro though…
Edit: Mind didn’t complete my thought, added words.
Is “He” not correct grammatically speaking?
Let’s be real here, I’ve seen every post about Lady Bird and every time someone comes in to make a huge nothing burger about this PR. Yall are just a gigantic mob out for blood for absolutely no reason.
Your concern should be whether or not the browser works, its not even finished ffs. If this were a released, absolutely 100% complete app, then sure! Go and be pessimistic about grammar. However I can garauntee you they have bigger obstacles to overcome.
So is the Internet Archive a library, or a preservation place? I feel like you’re advocating for them to be both, which isn’t how the law views them.
Edit: I for one would prefer they not waste money on a losing battle, and stick to preserving things. Id hate to see them lose on trying to be a library, and then all of their efforts wasted.
I’ll admit that I do like that they’re trying to scurt the law by doing what you’ve said, but it clearly isn’t enough.
Does IA have the right to lend and rent stuff? I believe that is the true issue here. At the moment they aren’t doing anything different then say what a piracy website would do. The right way would by making said links expire, not allowing infinite copies, and an actual “lending” system would do them more good then harm.
I think its an incredibly fair view point. If IA loses, and the way back machine goes down, because they keep losing these lawsuits, then it has absolutely affected this person.
To be quite honest, I even agree. The IA should be for preservation, not for piracy. Right now they’re boarding that line of piracy, and tbh, I disagree with that as well. Id rather go to a pirate website to pirate my books, and go to the IA to see what has been preserved.
Yeah if I had to guess a lot of components need to be assembled/put together in a clean room. Then to keep everything “clean”, mine as well just assemble it all in one place, which isn’t likely doable on site.
Do you mean winner? I believe in the states it also loser pays.
I simply don’t, and wouldn’t trust Apple. They will tell you they are all about privacy, and happily sell your data behind your back. Just like any other company.
I don’t use either of those thankfully:).
Yeah just like Microsoft Recall right? An AI that has access to every single thing you do (and would also be recording, otherwise how does it know “you”) can never be private by design. Its literal design is to know everything about you, your actions, and your habits. I wouldn’t trust anyone to be able to create an actually secure piece of software that does the above. It will always be able to be stolen/sold/abused.
You should be able to get insurance on your tools. I know a few of my locksmith buddies have done this. Keep a well itemized list of your tools.
It really sucks, and I for one don’t even do this. If it is a huge worry though, it should be something you can look into.
China afaik is currently doing exactly that, as well as a few companies in the United States. Its not something just as easy as “experimenting yourself” (although, that is a very simplified way to look at it.) This is decades of research, with billions of dollars. Countries like China can socialize some of these aspects, and seems to be doing very well. It still takes time and money, and research. All the while, the current leading companies are still also furthering their own research.
Youre constantly forcing your trunk closed? That doesn’t sound normal to me actually, and sounds like the opposite of what I would want. Hello, groceries, important things, stuff I don’t want stolen so goes in the trunk?
Youre completely right! Yet crypto really doesn’t seem like the right answer here either. Using more energy than several nations for an unstable currency is just not something thats gonna take off. Even if we had unlimited energy, crypto will continue to require more and more making it entirely infeasible.
You said your kid uses discord? So you’re completely fine with all of their messages being fair share for anyone to view, and you having no say in the matter?
You have to hope neither goes out of business either.
