Beta-voltaic batteries are already a thing.

Maybe we should have a nonprofit that patents terrible ideas and sues companies that would implement them. Maybe I should patent The Torment Nexus…
One personal benefit of RegularCarReviews coming out as gay has been the purge of right wingers from his channel.
Still, if google can tweak the algo so kids don’t get fitness videos, I should be able to have a toogle to keep right wing videos out.
Well, no. It was more a joke, but I have a third party channel blocker installed that I use to block them, but every now and then, I get a new one recommended to me. What I find interesting is is that I never engage with those types of channels, so why would the algorithm ever suggest them in the first place if the algorithm? In fact, the only political content of any type I watch is Behind the Bastards, but it never suggests any left wing content. Kinda odd.
Is there any way they can stop suggesting me right wing channels?
Honestly, with how people reacted to covid numbers being fudged downward or accepting whatever lie that claims that climate change is fake, I do not believe that any more evidence that corporations are listening in on your conversations would get any reaction out of the population. Hell, did anything come from the Panama Papers or Paradise Papers? The average person does not care.
This is not the court of law and no one is going to jail because of my distrust of corporations. “Innocent until proven guilty” does not apply here. Any batshit idea I could come with on how a corporation could siphon my data, they have already thought of and tried. They do not deserve the benefit of the doubt.
People are lazy and life is easier when you just blindly trust things you don’t understand. People think I’m weird that I don’t want a Ring camera INSIDE my house. I wouldn’t even put on outside my home.

You don’t think they would realize if something like this was happening and shout it from the rooftops?
Nope. Too many people are just trying to collect a paycheck. This is testable without access to the backend or source code and too many sociopaths work in the industry. My default is to distrust anything when the other party has a profit motive to lie. It’s anti-skeptical, but you have to prove that they aren’t spying on me if you want me to trust something.
And there have been push back against the idea by naive, trusting people who think the toggles for that do anything. The fact that there’s leak conversations now of advertisers admitting they do it will sink any counter argument against it.
Also, if advertisers are doing it, you can bet that the government can too.
I’ve been following Edison Motors and they look the most promising for pickup trucks. You can get the electric Mustang motor as a new crate engine if you don’t want to pull a Tesla rear end from a totaled car.
EV or (bio)diesel plug in hybrid Chevy C10. Battery can cover most of my use cases, but every now and then, I need to do a long haul.
I don’t view games as needing to be open source as the end users doesn’t need them to be productive in work. They aren’t a part of a productivity pipeline and the discontinue of a game’s support or radical change in fuction can’t throw a person’s livelihood into jeopardy.
Games should have a plan to release the source and assets if support ever gets dropped and I believe that it should be a requirement if a games gets to enjoy copyright protects that there’s a plan for when it enters public domain, but that’s a different discussion.
Yes. It’s not like you can’t even buy linux games on it. It was some jumping through hoops, but if you buy Factorio on GoG, you can get the linux version.
And assaulting the original Claptrap VA, among other things.
GoG exists and I always check there before going to Steam. I just won’t deal Epic.
I think they were talking about the EFF, but the difference between “helped found” and “founded” isn’t important here. I’m just giving an example of a “Good One”.
The good ones retire or have important, but not the most profitable/public facing jobs.
The other Apple Steve, Steve Wozniak founded the EFF and was the tech guy at early Apple. Jobs was the business guy.
John Carmack is a controversial figure, but he’s actually the tech wiz kid the techbros dream they are. He seems to just be interested in pushing technology and had some choice words for Meta when he left. They should have let him have his axe to carry around.
It’s old tech actually. They use it in pacemakers because it’s too difficult to replace or recharge the batteries. I guess you could do wireless charging now, but would you feel much safer with a lithium battery inside of you without a good cooling system? The body’s internal temperature is surprisingly warm when you start doing the engineering.
