I’d have to imagine most of the people calling them “tech savvy” are just seeing them on phones/tablets which are mostly “dumbed down” hardware in comparison to what you can do with a PC. There isn’t much to know about operating a phone or tablet.

Money. You aren’t paying for the video that the scene is from, you’re just watching the scene.
It’s almost always about money… Absolutely absurd
I believe you can, I haven’t tried though. The games install like any other and have an .exe you can point to through steam so it would probably just be a matter of having the epic launcher open as well when you go to play.
The one thing I like about them is they recognized why people really wanted to stick with steam: they have a large established library and don’t want to bounce back and forth.
They took that and said “ok we’ll give you free games every week until you have a large library here and won’t want to leave!”
Jokes on them, I now have a large library of completely free games on epic and still use steam for the games I want to buy because I refuse to support their exclusivity bullshit.
So many people don’t understand that profit comes after all expenses which includes labor. :/
Concision!
“I thought the tech industry was supposed to be filled with these brilliant genius people who are really good for the world…”
They are but as usual it’s the WORKERS who are the good brilliant people, not the ownership class and 3 letter executive dirt bags. They’re the same in EVERY industry. Owner/CEO ONLY cares about profit profit profit, fuck everyone and everything else.
Workers, they’re a mixed bag as there are so many different people, but in the tech space they’re generally intelligent “good” people.
The right wing was doing shenanigans at the very founding of the country.
It’s almost like we’re literally never going to not be dealing with their bullshit…
Because the rules governing you were made recently. The rules our government works off of were made by the most naive idiots 200 years ago… I can’t believe they were so stupid to think that the honor system was a good idea…
Our founding morons were the most naive idiots in existence… Sure they lived in a different time, but how could you possibly look back at any time in history and say “it’s ok only moral people get positions of power so we’ll play by the honor system.”
I was just saying they did such a good job making it up themselves that it sounded like it came from the onion lol
I love it! Reads like an onion article lol
I’m partial to Gaslight Obstruct Project. This is probably somewhere in “gaslight” as in “this is a good thing! You must be crazy to think this is bad, everyone says this is a good thing.”
It makes sense, those that backed off Reddit were more than likely against Corpo greed while conservatives cheer it on. Lemmy was created by leftists supposedly and more left leaning people joined after leaving reddit so it’s no surprise. Reddit kept the bootlickers and the lazy, Lemmy gained the anti-greed political left so we were sort of destined to be an echo chamber unfortunately.
That’s an interesting way of writing “Reddit CEO proves there’s no such thing as enough when you suffer from dragon syndrome.”
Giving kids the right to vote would be a start in the right direction.
I worry about that. More “Liberal” parents might care what their child believes, but hierarchy obsessed conservatives will tell their children who to vote for as they’re “supposed” to always do what their parents say no matter what and without question.
Also just noticed, and love your username lol
It’s literally never about the children. When they say it’s for the children it’s because they’re looking to lock in some crazy unpopular authoritarian bullshit and prevent any argument because who’s going to argue against protecting children?
By the language you used it sounds like you’re involved with the project, so thank you!
If it helps at all I’ve been experiencing this issue for probably 6 months or more. I’ve just gotten into the habit of adding videos to playlists and closing the video after i know it has been paused for a while. If I open it again from the playlist it picks back up where I was.
Also oddly enough if it skips to the end and I let it go to the next video (not in playlist, but whatever it would have played next) then I hit “back” it will (usually? I haven’t tried too many times) pick up where it should have been from when I paused it.
Edit: actually nevermind “we’ve been given fixes” would imply you’re one of us plebs! Thanks for the info anyway lol
I love newpipe except for one very annoying quirk: if you pause a video for more than a few minutes it “breaks” and skips to the end of the video when you hit play again.
For long videos this is very annoying, but I’ll gladly pay that “price” if it means I don’t have to hear 25261516 insanely annoying advertisements a day.
You’re right, I was just referring to the device as a whole. The “experience” is generally meant to be grab and use as is no tweaking/new apps or whatever so the general phone/tablet user isn’t accustomed to fixing/adding/tweaking, just tap swipe tap swipe tap swipe.
